Birth Doula Care in the Cowichan Valley with Sarah Juliusson, M.S.N.
Over my 20+ years of supporting families in birth I have continually been impressed by the positive impact of doula care in a birth experience. Whether you are birthing at home or in the hospital, a doula is a wonderful complement to your health care team.
As your birth doula I bring the knowledge, heart, and hands of a birth professional and seasoned mother who has seen pregnancy and birth unfold in countless ways, at the hospital and at home, through natural childbirth or cesarean birth, over several long days and nights or a few intense hours. I am offering birth doula care here in the Cowichan Valley for both home births and the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan. Cost is $700, and includes two prenatal home visits, $45 off your Birthing from Within prenatal class, comprehensive labour and birth support, and two postpartum home visits.

I love my work - pure and simple. With each birth I attend and each class I teach, I learn something new, and am always growing in my practice. I treasure the relationships built with clients over the years, watching your families grow and your children grow up.
My training and experience over the past 20 years has included the diverse roles of Childbirth Educator, Doula, and Maternity Nurse, along with midwifery training. In addition to my work with birthing families, I also provide business mentoring to holistic service providers around North America. Perhaps the best training of all has been as mother to my two growing boys (ages 8 & 10) who have taught me the gifts of both being fully present, and learning to let go. At the core of my life and work is my belief and trust in simplicity. As we talk about birth, we focus on the core truths about the physiology and experience, and help you cultivate tools to navigate the unknown with confidence rather than overwhelm. In parenting, I believe that less is indeed more, and as we simplify our routines and households, our families have room to thrive. In life, I am an avid student of the "old ways" - spending long hours in the garden on our 5 acre farm, with our animals, and learning the art of food preservation. |
