Feeling overwhelmed by all the options? While you will find all the same core information in our workshops as you'll find in any community class, most families who choose Island Mother are seeking something different - recognizing that true preparation for birth & parenthood isn't just about the facts. We offer you a blend of both practical information and personal exploration to help you prepare your heart, body & mind for the changes to come.

With Sarah Juliusson, M.S.N., Certified Birthing from Within Mentor
I love my work - pure and simple. With each class I teach I learn something new, and am always growing in my practice. I treasure the relationships built with clients over the years, watching your families grow and your children grow up.
My training and experience over the past 20 years has included the diverse roles of Childbirth Educator, Doula, and Maternity Nurse, along with midwifery training. In addition to my work with birthing families, I also provide business mentoring to birth professionals around North America. Perhaps the best training of all has been as mother to my two growing boys (ages 8 & 10) who have taught me the gifts of both being fully present, and learning to let go. At the core of my life and work is my belief and trust in simplicity. As we talk about birth, we focus on the core truths about the physiology and experience, and help you cultivate tools to navigate the unknown with confidence rather than overwhelm. In parenting, I believe that less is indeed more, and as we simplify our routines and households, our families have room to thrive. In life, I am an avid student of the "old ways" - spending long hours in the garden on our 5 acre farm, with our animals, and learning the art of food preservation. |
